Talking Heads Hoot Night

The 2nd annual tribute night to 70s/80's icons the Talking Head and their frontal lobe David Byrne. Last year the show sold out and we expect more of the same this time around as members of Moving Matter, the Trim and Jabarvy get flippy floppy. Doors are at 10pm, burning down the house to commence shortly after.
Moving Matter

With its head in the clouds and feet planted firmly in the stratosphere, Moving Matter has taken what you thought a rock band was, turned it on its head and launched it into outer space!
Since relocating to the musical mecca of Austin, TX from Ft. Collins, CO, the band has steadily progressed, constanty honing its expansive, stratospheric sound, and frequently garnering praise and comparisons to such acts as Sound Tribe Sector 9, Phish, and The Disco Biscuits. Bassist Chris Holland handles the pocket with deep, aggressive grooves and guitarist Josh Pearson holds a PHD in soaring-lead-ology, while drummer Dan Mcgreevy captains the ship with his rock-steady and relentless beats. Bozarth on keys rounds out the sound by dropping stinging synth textures and creamy hammond organ in to the mix.
Moving Matter's previous LP, "Infrablue" finally revealed the crafty songwriting and studio prowess that the band had found in recent years, but it is undoubtedly late at night, under the lights and in the smoky bars where Moving Matter creates its magic. Swimming the uncharted waters of live improvisation, the band has a knack for creating powerful music that is undeniably in tune with the present moment and teeming with the energy of those who bear witness from the audience.
The band currently tours with a rig of intelligent lights, LED washes, inflatable aliens, and a multitude of 'candy' for the eyes to compliment the psychedelic waves of sound created by the band's guitar and synth-infused musical journeys.
Moving Matter has shared the stage with such artists as The Disco Biscuits, The Roots, Thievery Corporation, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Tea Leaf Green, JFJO, Little Feat, Particle, Tony Furtado, Brothers Past, and Big Head Todd & the Monsters. MM has rocked such hallowed stages as The Fox Theatre in Boulder, Antone's and the infamous Stubb's BBQ in Austin, and the Granada Theater in Dallas.

The Trim

The Trim straddle the past and present - at once recalling the glory days of rock while effortlessly giving birth to a newborn sound that cries out to its mother with psychedelic ferocity and soulful emotion. The familiar, yet, fresh melodies - the waves of electric guitar and hammond organ.. This is pure, this is powerful, this is loud, this is what rock and roll was always meant to be.
Jabarvy

Jabavry, meaning 'chosen family', is a new breed of "accessible popular music with a progressive twist." From epic soundscapes to melded medleys, they reward any listener seeking sophisticated and surprising music.
All members of Jabarvy met in Lubbock, TX, as high-school band mates in the late '90s and moved to Austin to create one of the most originative bands in the Music Capitol. In 2005, Jabarvy was voted one of the Top Ten Jam Bands by Austin music lovers in the annual Chronicle Music Poll. The following year, 'M-Squad' (Meg and Margaret) was voted into the Music Poll's Top Ten Horn Sections. Jabarvy has played a Live Air performance on Ray Wylie Hubbards "Roots and Branches" radio show, 92.1 KNBT FM, Gruene/New Braunfels, and performed twice on the FOX 7 morning show as a featured musical act. Sharing stages with such acts as Carolyn Wonderland, Larry, Moving Matter, John Dee Graham, and On the One featuring Karl Denson's Tiny Universe drummer, John Staten, Jabarvy has played many venues and festivals across Texas, stretching from Lubbock to Houston and branching out to Oklahoma, Colorado, and Kansas.
Jabarvy is powered by two diverse lead guitarists, an all-female horn section, a lead singing drummer, and a most unique bassist. All members write songs, sing, improvise solos, play various other instruments, and assume the role of front man (woman) on any given night. Never repeating the same show twice, Jabarvy unites a wide array of original compositions and boundless jams into flightful schemes-and-dreams, spicing up every setlist with choice cover songs.
Jabarvy - a sound as unique as the name.
